I've been a "picker" for a few years now - it makes knitting so much faster and easier. Plus, my tension is always perfect with picking.
My tension is perfect with throwing, actually. I have a really even hand. I've made my peace with it -- if I'm in a mood, sometimes it actually feels GOOD to throw! But of course the promise of Really Fast Knitting has always been there...

What makes this so exciting is the fact that really efficient continental style has eluded me for YEARS. I can actually knit continental really well (and will bust a move like that when I've got miles of stockinette to do), but of course the purling has always been the issue. This video reveals exactly what I've been doing wrong: I have always threaded the yarn between my fingers as opposed to around the back, so I got no leverage with my index finger -- exactly as she points out.

The problem really boils down to the fact that, aside from that fateful day in the mid-nineties when I first learned to throw, I've never actually cornered a HUMAN to teach me. I probably could have gotten it years ago if I'd just gone to an SnB. :)
